| New Demo + Rough Drum Demos |
[Jul. 4th, 2005|04:52 pm] |
|
So today I posted a new demo as promised, "Conversation for Cars." It's a live demo and the song is still in the works so it will probably change before you hear it again. Also my friend Jordan came down from Nashville for the week and we setup a mic and recorded drums to two songs really quick. These were done in one take with one mic, so don't expect anything too fancy. Anyway check out my purevolume site (here). Also check out Jordan's band Jules Verne (here). |

| Summer Tour Cancelled... |
[Jun. 18th, 2005|04:48 am] |
|
:( Well guys, I had everything all planned out. Mike and I tried as hard as we could, but we couldn't book enough of the shows to justify doing the tour. Well the tour was justified, but we only managed about half of the tour booking. The rest we ran into problems with Venues being booked and bands being busy. I appologize everyone. We really wish it could work, but it looks like we'll have to wait and try again later. I'm going to instead try and book 3 date tours around the southeast over weekends instead. Many of the venues we contacted don't do shows on the weekdays so I think this may be a better plan. If things go well I can try venturing further out. Again, I appologize. I really wanted it to happen. I hope to see you all soon, and thanks so much for your continued support. I have a suprise coming soon though. Be sure to keep checking in! |

| The new cd... an update. |
[Mar. 6th, 2005|04:29 am] |
|
I'd like to start this news post off by thanking everyone who has preordered the CD so far. I appreciate the support more than you'll ever know. If you didn't know, my friend Hilary is doing the CD artwork and she is doing an incredible job. Hilary is not only a fabulous artist, but she is also a student, so due to final exams and projects she won't be finishing the artwork for the CD until this coming weekend. So, this means that I won't get to send the CD off to be pressed until then. Which also means that I won't be able to have the CD in my hands until after April 5th, which then means that I can't get it to you by April 5th. So what does this mean? It means that I have to push the release of "Fall Bares Branches, Birds Leave No Bark," back to April 19th. I feel really bad about having to do this, but there's just no way around it. To make up for it though I will be putting another song up on purevolume as well as making one or two of the songs downloadable. (this will happen sometime next week). I will also be drawing 2 more names from all of the preorders to call up and sing to. Now your chances of winning a phone call have increased :D. So again I appologize for pushing the album back, but I really don't have a choice. All current preorders are still good of course and I'm still taking new preorders. So if you haven't preordered yet, what are you waiting for? :D Thanks so much for your continued support everyone! Much love to all of you! --Casey |

| Another update on recording |
[Dec. 31st, 2004|03:40 pm] |
|
Well, everything is pretty much done... I'm in a good ways into the mixing of things now. I spent most of today on "From Promise to Sorry" I ended up adding another guitar part, piano, and claps to the song. So The whole day has pretty much been spent on that song. I haven't even touched 5 of the songs so I really need to get busy. I've decided to cancel my new years plans and stay home to mix. I'll grab me a bottle of sparkling apple cider at wal-mart (if there's any left) and celebrate the new year while mixing :). Everything is sounding really good and I think you guys are really going to like it! I'll probably throw some songs online this week for you all to listen to. Loryn was supposed to record tomorrow, but that's getting pushed back again. Its not a big deal though. I can go ahead and mix the song now, then after she records I can do some adjusting to fit in what we get done with her. So Happy New Years everyone, I'll make a better New Years post on the site and in a News Letter. I'll probably even post it here too. Thanks so much guys! |

| | mewithoutYou . carousels | ] | Whew, my voice is feeling it buddy. I'm glad I have the day off tomorrow. Today we finished the end of "I'll Find You," and we did all of "Our Best Shot." We also went back and re-recorded a few areas. On Thursday I'll do some more recording of parts that need some fixin. Then on Friday Loryn is coming up to record her vocals on "Hopefully Finding Hopeless." After that is a day we all like to call Saturday, and that day will be my last day in the studio :(. I'll spend all of Saturday doing some final touches on the mixes and getting everything just how I want it. I also just realized that I haven't put up the lyrics for "Hopefully Finding Hopeless" yet. So here they are... oh and there are 4 lines that have yet to be written because Loryn hasn't done her part yet, but we'll have that soon. Thanks everyone!
"Hopefully Finding Hopeless" so this is what i get for diving in too deep and too fast i hope i don't drown in another disappointment where my hopes are way too high
cause i'm in the deep end i can't get out on my own and if i start to sink will you dive in and rescue me
tell me you want this its harder when I can't let go and in every direction this cold current is pulling me
so look inside and tell me what you see do you see me? or have I fallen so far that i'm just a blur beneath the water i know i'm not much but i'll be everything if you let me someone could end this and save me and that could be you |

| [ | music |
| | kitefighting . eggshells | ] | So it has now turned into the 27th of December which means the two unmixed demos came down. I already have mixes of both of these songs now and should have some new songs online by new years (or just after). Today (the 26th) I also got more recording done. Justin Green came over to help me out. We got pretty far. All I have left to do for my vocals is this : Record all of "Our Best Shot," record the ending of "I'll Find You," and then go back on some songs and do a few touch-ups on some rough spots. Then all of my vocals should be done. From there I will begin doing some final mixes of the songs as well as adding some extra guitar parts and other additional instrumentation. Then later this week Loryn will be coming in to write and lay down the vocals for her part on "Hopefully Finding Hopeless." I will also be recording some of her original stuff (kitefighting) while she's here in the studio, so you guys can also look forward to that. Its going to be awesome! After all of the stuff I just mentioned, the CD IS DONE! I'll be sure to put some tracks online a.s.a.p. and start preordering sometime mid-late January. There will be a drawing for everyone that preorders the CD. 1 person will win the "You Are Beautiful" EP (which is sold out), the "Life Alone is No Life at All" full length, as well as a phone call from me :). I will then play any 2 songs you want. 2 other winners will get a phone call and I will play them any song they want. So be sure to pre-order the CD as soon as you can to get in the drawing. I'll have more info on all of that soon! The release date for the CD is April 5th of 2005. I still don't have a title for it, but I will let you know as soon as I decide on one. Oh, and also in January I will be sitting down with my friend Hilary White so she can get started on the illustrations for the CD art. I should have another update for you all tomorrow after another great day of recording. I hope you all had an awesome Christmas and I hope you enjoyed the unmixed demos. More good things coming soon! Much love everyone. |

I hope all of you are doing well. I just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas (or Happy Holidays). I have put two unmixed demos up on purevolume for the 24th, 25th, and 26th only so listen to them now because they're coming down on the 27th. I hope you like them, but please keep in mind they aren't mixed or anything, so don't form too many judgements. Alright, well everyone stay safe and spend some time with your families. Thank all of you so so much for your support this year! It really means a lot to me. CLICK HERE to hear the songs. |

| | kitefighting . fight or flight | ] | Well initially I had planned on getting another 3-4 songs done vocally for today, but I ended up getting one (due to getting started late and having to stop early). The song I finished is "Hopefully Finding Hopeless." My friend Keenan also got his vocals completed for it, and Loryn should be doing her part on it next week. So I guess that's it for recording till after Christmas. I'll see what I can piece together for you guys to hear since I said I'd try and get a few tracks online for Christmas. I'll be sure to post here, on the site, and in a newsletter once the songs are online. Keep checking back! Thanks everyone! |

That's What I Do," but I went with what I saw online. I mean come on... if you read it online it must be true. Anyway, the song "Just Follow Your Heart... That's What I Do," is no longer a quote from the movie, instead it is just inspired by the movie. I could change it, but I honestly think that Follow sounds better than Listen to.(let me know what you think) Yea, so that's my story. More vocal recording tomorrow. Well I guess that's today since its really 3:30am. All of you younger kids don't pay any attention to my example. Its very bad for you to stay up this late (although staying up to watch Napoleon Dynamite is a good reason to be up). My eyes are burning. Night everyone, sleep grand! |

I only recorded for 3 hours because I have other stuff going on this evening, but I managed to get the vocals of four songs done. Those songs would be "These Dying Flares," "Just Follow Your Heart... That's What I Do," "Fall Down," and "Just Look to the Sky." I'll be doing a little mixing tomorrow and running over the stuff I recorded to make sure its all sounding good. Then Thursday Justin is coming back over to help me record. We should knock out another 3-4 songs then and hopefully finish vocals on Sunday or Monday. After that I'll be going back in and adding little things like extra guitar parts and maybe some keyboard or strings here and there and then its all gotta be mixed and sent off to be mastered. I hope to have a couple demo songs online for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the Day after Christmas. Then I'll probably take them down and wait till I have everything in final mix form. If I don't post again before it gets here, Merry Christmas everyone and I hope you have a great one. |

So today (by that I mean Sunday) I managed to knock out the last guitar track, so vocals here I come. We did some test vocal tracks today and got a good feel for some things so I should be getting down my first bit of vocals tomorrow. Hopefully all will go well with that. I'll be sure to keep updating each day on the progress of things! |

| | getup kids . i'll catch you | ] | Alright! We are making progress here. I finished all of the guitar tracks except for the last song on the CD today. So I should be able to knock that out tomorrow or Monday and then vocals all this week baby! You know what that means? I may have a christmas present for everyone!! (hint.... starts with new, ends with song) Alright, well I hope everyone is doing well. I have a somewhat busy week so I'm not sure how much I will get done on vocals, but hopefully I can knock out at least 2-3 songs this week vocally. Then the rest of the vocals shortly thereafter. I have to go back to school on the 3rd so I'll have until then to get it mixed and sounding all pretty for all you lovely people. And after that is complete I will send the CD off to be mastered and pressed. I'll have a release date sometime in January as well as preordering and possibly streaming of the whole CD over on purevolume. I haven't decided about that, but I'll def be putting up several tracks from the new CD. Anyway, if you didn't see on the new of my website here is the tentative tracklisting for the new CD :
01) I'll Find You 02) Just Follow Your Heart... That's What I Do 03) Look to the Sky 04) From Promise to Sorry 05) Best With You 06) These Dying Flares 07) Our Best Shot 08) Hopefully Finding Hopeless 09) Fall Down 10) Your Last Chance
Hope to have stuff for you to hear soon... I'm so excited to hear what all of you think! |

Ok, so today my friend Luke came over and helped me record. I got the guitars done for "Best With You" and "Just Follow Your Heart... That's What I Do". Tomorrow I'm going out of town and then I'll resume recording on Wednesday. I hope to knock out 3-4 more guitar tracks then and then finish up on Thursday or Friday with guitar. I'm also in the process of finishing up the last song for the album. I'll be sure to post the lyrics when its done. Thanks so much for all of your continued support everyone! |

That was the first show in a while that I haven't sat on the edge of the stage without a mic. It was great times. For those of you that weren't there, you should really check out Plano and Here Comes the Metric System. I played mostly new stuff and here's the setlist.
- I'll Find You - Just Follow Your Heart... That's What I Do - These Dying Flares - (c)Rap Medley - Hopefully Finding Hopeless - Fall Down
The last band that played was a Weezer cover band. They played the entire blue album from start to finish and it was a great time. Needless to say, I lost my voice singing along.
I don't have anymore shows this year, but I have one on January 15th at Georgia Tech's Venue, Under the Couch. I hope to see you guys there! But for now its back to recording. I'll post more about the progress of that as it happens. Thanks for all of your support everyone. It means so much to me! Have an awesome weekend.

Ok, so today I actually recorded. We got the guitar down for 3 songs. "I'll Find You," "From Promise to Sorry," and "These Dying Flares." Tomorrow I hope to get at least 3 more songs done on guitar as well. Thursday and Friday I'm taking the days off and then this weekend I'll probably spend writing on my last song. I'll be sure to keep you guys updated though. So far so good! Thanks for all the support.

| | kitefighting . parallel lines | ] | Well, today was going to be day one in the studio, but I didn't really get anything done. I was going to start recording some guitar, but once I tuned my guitar I started writing a new song and it kinda consumed the whole day. So the actual recording of things will go down tomorrow. Then more recording on Wednesday, and the day off on Thursday. Then I have a show Friday night. After that its back to recording! Anyway, that new song I wrote is called "Your Last Chance" and it will be the last song on the new CD. here are the lyrics, I hope you like them.
"Your Last Chance" its a great day for flight said the pilot to the passengers but little did he know his plane would be going down that day and what he really should have said is buckle up your seatbelts because you're in for a ride and is there anyone that you forgot to say "I Love You" to
cause right now is your last chance don't you dare take this for granted
in first class there's a man who'd be on his private plane if it weren't for repairs and he's never been so scared in all of his life he's thirty two and rich but can't think of a single person to say "I love you" to
and in the sixth row of coach there's a man who's cheating on his wife he starts to call home but wonders if he says it will he really mean it
cause right now is their last chance don't they dare take this for granted
in the back of the plane there's an old man he's content with his days and the life that he's lead
on the opposite end there's a man who pilots this plane he's fighting for control and thinking who's in control of his life
cause right now is your last chance don't you dare take this for granted
see your plane's not going down right now but it doesn't mean you're gauranteed forever so don't leave anything unsaid that you don't want that way when you're gone you might not be here tomorrow so live for right now cause that's all we've got
cause right now maybe your last chance don't you dare take this for granted |
